Endoscopic forehead lift (or endoscopic eyebrow lift) is chosen when it is desired to lift both forehead and eyebrows during single procedure. These procedures are most commonly sought by middle-aged patients characterized by eyebrow and forehead tissue drooping, but skin still remains sufficiently elastic. It is important to mention that this procedure can be performed for both women and men.
How is endoscopic eyebrow lift performed?
During surgery, 4–5 incisions no longer than 1 cm in length are made at hairline. After making small incisions, tissues are lifted and fixed. Surgery is performed using advanced endoscopic technique with camera, which allows easily controlling entire procedure progress, preserving nerves, and minimally traumatizing tissues.
Endoscopic eyebrow lift is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1 hour. It is important to mention that for men, procedure may take longer because their tissues are firmer. Plastic surgeon, after lifting tissues, secures incision sites with sutures. Next day after surgery, patient is discharged home for further treatment.
During this surgery, not only are forehead and eyebrow tissues lifted and wrinkles smoothed, but also soft forehead tissues are lifted, so face acquires youthful appearance, looks less tired. Very often, forehead and endoscopic eyebrow lift are performed together with blepharoplasty (eyelid lift surgery) and fat injections in face.
Post-operative period
After procedure, doctor provides all useful guidelines to patient, and next day you can go home.
As after any surgery, so after endoscopic eyebrow and forehead lift, post-operative healing period can pose challenges. Immediately after lift, face swells, so first 2 days it is regularly cooled with compresses. Usually, about 10–14 days after surgery, following may appear:
- Visible swelling.
- Bruising.
- Temporary numbness or itching in incision area.
As with any surgical procedure, an eyebrow and forehead lift carries potential risks including reaction to anesthesia, post-operative pain, swelling, bruising, and eye irritation. Patients usually return to normal life after 14 days, but temporary sensitivity disorders in the forehead can last up to 3 months.
Adequate amount of fluids and healthy balanced nutrition promotes wound healing. As before, so after surgery, patients often abstain from nicotine and alcohol consumption, as these factors slow healing and increase complication risk.
How does endoscopic eyebrow lift differ from regular eyebrow lift?
Endoscopic eyebrow lift is performed through several small incisions at hairline, using endoscopic camera. This is less invasive technique compared to traditional lift, characterized by shorter healing period and less noticeable scars. A regular eyebrow lift (e.g., direct brow lift or mid-forehead lift) is performed with incisions directly above the eyebrow or in the mid-forehead, typically when only eyebrow position needs to be corrected or for specific forehead concerns without the need for endoscopic access.
